AND THE WINNER IS....

If you have been keeping up with us and the Non-Profit Office Furniture Giveaway, you are probably aware of our major computer glitch which resulted in a great learning lesson for all of us at Kershaw's. It seems that our voting system was not as technologically advanced as we had hoped and passionate supporters of some of these wonderful non-profit organizations quickly figured out how to vote 1,000's of times making it difficult to get a true sampling of the community vote. We are very grateful for those of you that were able to participate in the voting process and we will be much more prepared with far more sophisticated polling software next time around.

To make things as fair as possible we invited representatives from all five organizations to lunch yesterday afternoon and did a drawing to select the winner. And the winner is........

PARTNERS WITH FAMILIES AND CHILDREN

Their mission is to prevent, interrupt and repair cycles of abuse and neglect within families. They provide a full range of services for children who have suffered abuse and/or neglect, as well as, provide mental health and chemical dependency treatment for parenting individuals and their family members,

The gift of $7000 worth of new office furniture has come at a great time for Partners because they are just a month out from an expansion into the lower level of their building. $7000.00 will provide them with a large conference table, seating for eighteen people and a few desks for offices in this space.

The other organizations did not leave empty handed. Center for Justice, New Horizon Care Centers, Life Services of Spokane and World Relief Spokane were given $500 gift certificates help purchase some Lorell furniture items.

We feel so lucky to be apart of such a wonderful community
Thanks for continued support of these organizations, Kershaw's and local business

From the Desk of Shelly

From Post-it notes to stethoscopes, wheel weights to Scotch tape, chances are you’ve probably used a 3M product today without even knowing it. 3M’s slogan, “Science Applied to Life,” captures perfectly the essence of their company— providing useful and well-thought products with an emphasis on practicality. Their website reads, “Science… is just science. Until you make it improve the world.”
Literally millions of people use these products in their day to day lives.
In this article, I’ll be looking specifically at 3M’s office products—their history, application, and some creative ways they’re being used today. It’s worth noting that 3M prides themselves on using minimal resources and, “enabling more to help the world thrive. “
3M was founded by five businessmen in 1902. Initially a mining venture, the company had new ownership as early as 1905 when they started manufacturing sandpaper. The following twenty-five years saw many innovations and new products, including scotch and masking tape, which are still available today. By 1950, they were named, “one of the five best-managed companies in the United States.” The 70s saw a technological advance in a wide variety of fields and the post-it note was introduced in 1980. Today they boast over $30 billion in sales and employ over 88,000 people world-wide.

3M has come a long way in just over one-hundred years, today it doesn’t take a very thorough search to find examples of their office products used in large-format installation art or even used as clothing. What began as a meager operation is now one of the most recognized brands in the modern world. Check out the 3M products in our catalogue and see what they can do for you!
